Print, sign on paper, and send it back
The option for recipients who will not sign electronically.
Open this guide in the help center →
When to use this. A recipient will not or cannot sign electronically and wants to sign a printed copy.
What you’ll need. A document ready to send, and the ability to accept a scanned return.
Turn the option on
Open the document's Settings tab and enable Print and Sign. Without it, signing on screen is the only route available to the recipient.
The recipient chooses it while signing
In the signing view they can choose Print & Sign instead of completing the fields on screen. Formbot tells them to download the document, then print, sign, and scan it.
They download the document
The Download Document button gives them the current document to print. This is the copy they sign by hand.
They upload the signed copy
They return to the same link and upload the scanned file, then choose Return Document to send it back to you.
Check what you received
A returned document is recorded as downloaded and signed rather than completed on screen, so the activity timeline reads differently. Open the uploaded file and confirm every page came back and is legible.
How to know it worked
The recipient's scanned, hand-signed copy is attached to the document and visible in its timeline.
