When to use this. You want visitors to resume a conversation, to stop the chatbot running on other websites, or to make the shared link look right.

What you’ll need. A chatbot and, for allowed websites, the exact addresses that will show it.

  1. Open Settings

Choose Settings in the editor header. It has four sections: General, Typing, Security, and Metadata.

  2. Choose the general behavior

Prefill input fills inputs whose variable already has a value. Hide query params on bot start removes parameters from the address once the chat starts. Remember user restores the conversation if the visitor comes back, using the browser’s local or session storage.

  3. Set the typing speed

The chatbot imitates typing so messages can be read. Adjust Words per minute, Max delay, and Delay between messages, or turn on Disable on first message so the first message appears quickly. Very slow settings frustrate visitors.

  4. Restrict where it can run

By default the chatbot can run from any website. Under Security, add the addresses that are allowed to run it. If you add a list, include the chatbot’s own share link address, or that link stops working.

  5. Control the share preview and tracking

Under Metadata, set the title, description, icon, and image people see when the link is shared. Add a Google Tag Manager ID only when the chatbot is not embedded in a site that already has Tag Manager. Custom head code adds third-party scripts.

How to know it worked

The published chatbot behaves as configured, and only the websites you listed can run it.
