Test, publish, and manage your chatbot

Preview safely, publish when ready, and close or unpublish when you need to.

When to use this. The conversation is ready for real visitors, or you need to pause or withdraw it.

What you’ll need. A chatbot you have tested and edit access to it.

  1. Test before you publish

Choose Test at the top right of the editor to chat with your chatbot in a preview. Use Restart to begin again, follow every branch, and check each block that connects to something else. Where a block has separate test settings, such as Stripe test keys, the preview uses them.

  2. Publish

Choose Publish. The button shows Published when the live version matches the editor, and its tooltip says when there are non-published changes. Changes are not live until you publish again.

  3. Share the link

After publishing, the Share tab shows the chatbot’s public link, which you can send to anyone. To put the chatbot on a website, follow the embed guide.

  4. Close or unpublish

Open the Publish menu. Close chatbot to new responses makes the chatbot show “This bot is now closed.” Unpublish chatbot stops visitors opening it. Restore published version discards your unpublished editor changes.

  5. Know the custom domain status

The Share tab includes an Add my domain option for using your own domain. It depends on your workspace plan and on platform setup that is still being completed for Formbot Chatbot, so use the standard link or an embed for now.

How to know it worked

The public link opens the latest published version, and a closed or unpublished chatbot behaves as you expect.
